Tick Tock

The rate at which I’m doing
doesn’t match the things I’m thinking
but with all my body I’m panicking
that I’m not done
not enough
not even close
but running out of time
getting older
getting weaker
I’m never enough and I know this
if I had a little more time I’d do it all
I’d be done
I’d be ready
I’ll be good enough with just five more minutes

  1. You’ve captured the sense of panic and the longing for more time. I like the repetition in this poem.

  2. There’s never enough – some things will always be left undone, like raking leaves. Accept this, and you’re free.
