The Whitest Spring

I never before saw a white spring
the ground turned cold
as my hope started leaving

I never before felt the dead
weight of my body in bed
not in the spring

March is sacred, March is safe
March gives back
what December takes

I never before saw a white spring
and I hope never to, again
