Brighton

Everything, when the city is lit
and the skyline meets the night
if – and when – we fill a bottle
to the brim with tiny pebbles
it’s time to leave, time to drive
and everything in time
will change. To look at the skyline
to sit above the city
it’s nice to think
that these things could stay
that we could fall asleep
to a golden skyline; every day
the arcade is damn near closing;
the pier is emptying out
and everything in time
will work through itself

  1. On the first morning I woke up in Brighton, having moved down here from the Midlands the day before, I could hear the seagulls squawking noisly and I grinned like a maniac, knowing I’d managed it and had moved here.

9 years later and it still retains that magical feeling some days.

On the first morning I woke up in Brighton (the day after I arrived moved here from the Midlands) I could hear the seagulls squawking outside in the monring, and I grinned like a maniac because I knew I made it.

9 years later and Brighton still gives me that feeling sometimes.

    • Well that gives me hope for the future! Where did you live in the midlands? I’m from East Midlands, lucky me

I grew up in Coventry, but after I finished my degree at art school (in Devon) I lived in Nottingham for several years before I moved down to Brighton.

      • I grew up and am currently stuck in leicester, so not away far at all! I’m applying for my masters in film at the university of Sussex, I’m already planning my escape.

    Good luck – I’m sure you’ll make it! 🙂

Might be worth saving up a bit of cash – Brighton tends towards the expensive.
