Dearest California
your people and scenery
did a little to change me
to finally, fill with a little
honesty and positivity
in my own surroundings
I long to find comfort
and creativity, in pebbles
rain, wind, and history

To leave behind ‘victim’
struggles, self, and family
is perhaps enough to
hold onto some security
and inspiration, after all

So to your people, your
waters and waves, your
mountains and deserts
thank you – that I can’t
be with you does affect
me, honestly, but I am
made for the sea and
for the rain. Let me keep
what you have given me
California
and that we might be
together again, some time
