44.

So I spend most mornings
awash with grey light
clicking through photographs
of places I mightn’t visit
but I might – and that’s what counts

How much is a plane ticket?
How much is a life alone?
Have I friends left in California, Tokyo
here or even back home?

My dreams are not yours
and I save every penny
but what for?
Because I never did click ‘confirm’

I’ll look at the pictures
of careers and of places
but I will stay here
haunted by visions
of what lies beyond grey light

  2. revealing… I tend not to click ‘confirm’ either

  3. Unlived life. Haunts us all.
